The category of five star hotels is the highest category in the classification of tourist hotels in France.
This category was created on 1 January 2009 Before that, contrary to other foreign countries, there was no category of five star hotels in France. They may match this category were classified as the "four star luxury." This 5-star category has been added to the new repository back into force on 1 January 2009.1 This reference also redefines and sets new standards of comfort and hygiene requirements and introduces servicesa 1, accessibility, sustainability and access to new TechnologiesIndustry 2.
This valuable ranking 5 years remaining voluntary, it must request the establishment a visit pay check for the star ratings, as well as its renouvellement2. To ensure thorough quality in star ratings, it is done through a mystery tour for the four hotels and five 3-STAR HOTEL.
To distinguish the authority to officially claim the status of Palace, a decree of November 8, 2010 the Ministry of Tourism hotels, defines the term "Distinction Palace" 3. Eight luxury hotels (including 5 star) receive the label in the first place. The label is awarded after compliance with the specifications and the opinion of a jury of 10 personalities Reference4.
After three years of transition, from July 23, 2012, the new classification is only in force. So the refractory according to former risk rankings now fined 15,000 euro5.
At the end of 2010, France had only 100 establishments classified five-star hotels to 165 in 2011, however, 23 November 2012, the 250th establishment gets this prestigious ranking. At the end of July 2014, France has 298 hotels listed five étoiles6. August 13, 2014, the 300th establishment was recorded. **
